Då länken inte funkar längre, så här är vad som bl.a. skrevs i den:
"If you only need short sections of your route to be without wires, but the major part of it under wires,
then there is a work around. I recommend it only for situaitons like spurs in an oil dock,
under intermodal cranes, under wood chip loaders etc where a wire would be both silly and suicidal.
The trick to use default wires and get rid of the wires on short, selected spurs and sidings is:
1) Lay track normally, and use default wire.
2) When all RE work on the tile (w-file) in question is complete, get the coordinates of the track sections
you want to be without wires.
3) Open the .w file in WordPad, search for the coordinates you just noted.
4) Alter the entry for that track shape from
TrackObj (...)
to
Static (...)
5) Voilà, no more wires over that specific piece of track.
Please note: Should you run a .tdb rebuild after using that trick, MSTS will not recognize these shapes as track sections,
and will not include them in the rebuilt .tdb. Furthermore, it does not work with DynTrack sections.
The only two limitations are:
- No static dynamic track, because "DynTrack" is a classification of its own in .w files
- No tdb rebuilds after the "static track" trick is applied, or you will loose the sections of track in the
updated .tdb file.
Also, I recommend to do the .w file editing as the very last thing after everything is completed on the .w file in question,
and after a back-up is made.
It is fairly easy to get .w files and .tdb files out of synch by mistake (technically, you are out of synch when you
alter the reference from TrackObj to Static, but MSTS will remain unaware of it as long as you do not select a switch or
delete a simple track shape in RE).
