Ämne: Trainz content - 93607 Hi Goran I am writing on behalf of the Deltic Preservation Society regarding your content you have built for Trainz and are asking permission from you to use this in two ways. We operate and restore 3 Deltics diesel locomotives at Barrow Hill in the UK which we bought from British Rail in 1982 and have run these 2 stroke machines ever since they were originally built in 1960. Its strange to say that these are the only 100mph diesel locomotives in Britain as all other diesels are fixed in sets called High Speed Trains. The national rail network does not have any diesel loco that can run at these speeds any more !! We are paying out at the minute £15,000 per Deltic to fit Train Protection Warning System and next year a black box recorder for around the same figure. You may look at out web site at www.thedps.co.uk As well as 3 operationally Deltics we also own a cab from 55008 The Green Howards which was given to us a number of years ago. Until now we have not known what to do with the cab other than show it at an odd open day but now with modern technology a basic driving simulator has been created for the cab and has ran for a short time with the Microsoft system. With the cab being successfully during the Summer at Railfest and the Cab IT weekend at York. Plans are now being drawn up to upgrade and fit the cab out with Trainz. Infact we have been given free of charge from Trainz the public licence version to allow us to show at open days etc. With this in mind I have asked different Trainz members who have been building sections of the East Coast Main Line from Kings Cross - London to Edinburgh if they would be interested in joining forces to build a complete route based in the year of 1976. All the builders have been very happy to help. This brings me to asking for your permission to be allowed to include your content in this route and to be able to show it at some Open Days around the country and at Barrow Hill ? We will be charging a small fee for driving the simulator but all money raised will either go to upgrading the cab for example 2 plasma widescreens etc or for restoration, maintenance and running costs on the Deltic's we operate on the mainline. Trainz have kindly agreed to help bundle the ECML route onto either a CD or DVD depending on size for just the DPS to sell. This will be in roughly 2 years time when the route is finished. Could we also have permission from yourself for this ? We will of course enclose your name and list your kuid's in the read me file on the disk. Find enclosed below some more details about the project :- 'The project is being built in the Trainz format and sections have already be started. These are around Kings Cross, Peterborough,Doncaster, York, Darlington, Hull,Cleethorpes and the Spalding line. More builders are required for this project. The sooner each section is finished the closer we are in the position to offer members the chance to drive along the whole length of the ECML. The first aim is to have the 'Cab Mode' where only scenery visible from the cab is built. This will bring the Deltic cab on stream. The second phase will be the 'Fly Mode' where travelling along with the locomotive from the air will be possible. As with all Trainz layouts these will be free for anyone to use on there PC's at home in the normal way. Secondary routes and diversions routes which the Deltic's travelled will also be added over a period of time. The route will be based on the summer of 1976 when very roughly the whole of the ECML was upgraded to 100mph running and with modern stations and signals. Kings Cross is being modelled with all 3 tunnel bores in operation and the lines to Moorgate being used. In February 1977 the whole of the Kings Cross complex was rebuilt to the now 2 tunnel bores. The route will be of the correct scale and will not be shorten in any way. Depending if it is ever required a modern up to date version can soon be made from the original. The Deltic Cab simulator will normally be in operation at Barrow Hill only with the ECML route. When the cab does go out to events a special layout will be used where a drive of a circular route of around 6 minutes will be in operation. This is to help with large queues that form at these events'. I hope the above is of interest and that you may give us your permission to use your Trainz content. As stated we are also building a special layout to use at Open Days, if we do use you content on this also could we have your permission. Would you infact be interested in building some extra content for the ECML and the Trainz download station ? If you require any more details please do ask. We shall be announcing in the next week or two on the Trainz forum our plans and a link to the DPS web site where some extra pages about this project will be placed. Until then would you please not put anything on any forum etc until we have done so. Thanking you.
